Art in Context / by Leigh Wells

This year I've been part of conversations in the art and education world focusing in on context: context in learning, consuming, and making. During the 2016 presidential election season, I looked back on the time spent and photographs made in Atlantic City. At the time I was there, I wasn't thinking about the Donald specifically (though certainly the Trump brand), but now seems like a time to revisit those images and make more. There has been some fantastic writing about Atlantic City in the past year. If you haven't read it, I recommend reading the NYT article How Donald Trump Bankrupted His Atlantic City Casinos, but Still Earned Millions.

Over the next year, I'll be posting some of my images of Atlantic City while thinking about what they mean in the context of today's world. For any friends or family reading, I hope they'll spark conversations for us to have.
